Chai Tea

Chai tea is a combination of spices, milk, and tea. This type of tea is very commonly found in India and many other places around the world. In this non-fat recipe, you can add no calories sugar to sweeten the tea.

Ingredients

½ tbsp ginger, peeled and diced ¼ tsp ground cardamom 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg 1/8 tsp ground allspice 3 whole cloves, crushed 1 whole star anise 1 cinnamon stick 1 tbsp vanilla extract 1 cup of non-fat milk 1-2 bags black tea, depending on the strength you desire 1 cup of hot water

Directions

Steep the black tea bags in hot water. Over medium heat, bring the milk with the rest of ingredients to just before boiling. Make sure not to scorch the milk. Stir occasionally. Add the black tea to the milk mixture. Lower the heat and cover the pot with a lid. Simmer over very low heat for 10-15 minutes to let the aromatic compounds infuse well with the milk mixture. Strain the solids from the tea mixture. Enjoy warm or over the ice.
